VIOLATIONS OF POOL RULES MAY RESULT IN DISCONTINUED POOL PRIVILEGES

There will only be lifeguards at the slides. The rest of the pool will be SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK. Parents and guardians, please supervise your children. If the lifeguards have to leave for any reason, the slides will be closed.

NO DIVING

CHILDREN UNDER 12 CANNOT USE THE POOL WITHOUT ADULT SUPERVISION

Why do we have these rules in place?

  1. No glass containers in the pool yard at any time. This is first and foremost a safety issue. Glass containers are easily broken on the walkways, pool, and pool surrounds. Broken glass is nearly invisible under water and is concealed easily in the turf and sandbox. We can not risk anyone getting cut by hidden broken glass.

  2. Babies must wear specially designed swim diapers in order to be allowed in the pool. This is a health and sanitation issue. Normal everyday diapers do not adequately contain human waste products when immersed. Human waste that escapes diapers contaminates the pool water and creates an unsanitary condition which forces the closure of the pool for at least 24 hours. It goes without saying that babies and small children can never be allowed to play in or near the pool while nude.

  3. No eating, drinking, or smoking while in the pool water. Food, drinks, and cigarette ashes/butts pollute the pool water and create an unsanitary condition.

  4. Children 12 years of age and under must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times. Safety, safety, safety! Children will be children and, when left unsupervised, can endanger themselves and others.

Only the slides will have lifeguards this year (2005). The rest of the pool area will be SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK. Parents and guardians, please supervise your children. If the lifeguards have to leave the slides for any reason, the slides will be closed.

  5. No running or rough play. Pool yards are full of slippery and hard surfaces. Running and rough play often lead to injuries in these conditions.

  6. No abusive language, loud radios, or excessive noise. Purely out of courtesy for your neighbor.

  7. No smoking except in designated areas. The artificial turf in the pool complex is expensive and easily damaged by fire or flame. Just as with the carpet in your home, a dropped cigarette butt will leave unsightly damage to the turf. The expense is not worth the risk.

  8. No wet swimwear in Club Savannah. The floors and furniture in the Clubhouse are expensive and easily damaged by wet swimwear.

In addition to the above highlighted rules we would like to remind everyone to help keep the pools clean and filters unclogged by making sure children shower off all sand clinging to them when moving from the sandbox to the pool.

Also as a reminder, the artificial turf gets hot in the summer so remember to bring some sort of foot wear with you to the pool this season.

LIFEGUARDS AND SAVANNAH MANAGEMENT STAFF HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE THOSE WHO REFUSE TO FOLLOW THE ESTABLISHED RULES.

The Savannah Pool and Landscape Committee welcomes your concerns, comments and suggestions. With everyone's courteous commitment, this will surely be the best pool season ever! See you at the pool!

The Pool and Landscape Committee meets every 2nd Monday, at 7 PM, in the Boardroom (2nd Floor of Club Savannah).
